Adventure Man beta v6 - New level!

Been a long time since I last updated, but here it is! A new version of AM. Had a few days off school+weekend tied together so decided to try and complete the whole game (not 100% done, but all levels+cutscenes done, graphics will come later). Basically whats new is I fixed the UI to look abit better, and fixed the bug where it wouldnt save. Now you have a SaveState notifier so you can make sure you saved your progress. Also added a completely new level with some new stuff, secret passages etc. This is in a cave so its dark.. Dont forget your torch =)

Play it here:

New for this version:
UI + Save Bug
Better HitTest
Added a cutscene
Added a new level
Dynamic lighting for the "torch" effect in the cave

Adventure Man Beta v5 - Checkpoints/SaveState etc.

Been working friday + some of today on Adventure Man. Gotten quite far, so far there is still only 1 level but I wan't to "perfect" it before I go on with more. I managed to do something I didn't think was possible with my knowledge of AS2/Flash but I managed to get working SaveState/Checkpoints. (So when you die and hit the green button on your screen you will spawn directly by your latest checkpoint). You will need to press Down (or the S key) while standing on the purple squares for it to confirm the checkpoint. It may bug sometimes with the respawn but just hit the button again and after 1-3 times it will work. (Will try to perfect it more later ofcourse!). Did quite alot since last version, made a small list at the bottom. I think I'll continue keeping a short list at the bottom of these updates as an "summary".

Go here to try the current version: (Beta v5)

And yes I know the graphics are horrible.. But I wan't to focus on getting all the code ready THEN I can do the graphics (as it's simply enough only to replace all the images for better looking ones).

Added the following:
* Death animation
* Obstacles that can kill you.
* Items that work.
* Invisible barriers that interact depending on if you have an item or not.
* "Death Path" which rewards a diamond at the end if completed. More on this later.
* Save/Check-points that are working.

Adventure Man: Better Hit Collison detection.

So in yesterdays version the hit collision was limited to plane ground (no bumps/circles etc). However i played around with the code and managed to create close to perfect hit collision detection!
I also added so that WASD works as controlls.

Adventure Man project started!

Alright so this weekend I've just been at home so thought I might aswell do something usefull. Using Adobe Flash CS5 and ActionScript 2.0 im creating a platform game called "Adventure Man" which is basically a Indiana Jones platformer game where you solve mysteries in ancient Africa. I've made a story and cutscenes in school - but can't access them untill about 2 weeks. So all I got atm is some basic gameplay where you can move around (with animations!) and even got some quicksand working.

Try it out:

A lot of downtime... But I'm back in buisness!

Alright so I've been gone quite a while now. And since I started the blogg I haven't really had much progress with anything. So I'm going through some IRL stuff atm (big surgery =/) but once that's over I am catching a new breath and starting over. As of here I am dropping ALL projects I have had so far that arn't already completed and starting over from a clean slate. The only things I've completed really is the two flash games, and you can find them in the Game-developping section of the blogg. But all the XNA work I've done so far will be dropped never to be returned too. (I will start with XNA again later, but a new project!). Right now im focusing on getting an A in my class where I am to create an Platformer in Flash. So flash is the only thing im sticking too untill this game is complete. The platformer which I am making is called "Adventure Man" (yes action man rip-off on title) which is basically a Indiana Jones platform game, where you are a great adventurer solving mysteries in an ancient temple. I've made some "art" for it however its stuck on my school pc, which I wont be able to get too for about 1-2 weeks. But I'll make sure too post it when I get out of hospital. Untill then, cheerio!
